DETAILS OF SERVICE
The Social Buddies Volunteer programme is a Service Reform Initiative
within CHO 1 that has been developed as a result of the Service Reform
Fund (SRF). The Service Reform Fund (SRF) has been established to
support the implementation of reforms in the Disability Service in
Ireland. The SRF provides resources to re-configure existing services
towards more person-centred, cost effective approaches in line with
government policy.
The Social Buddies Programme is a community-based programme in which
interested and eligible volunteers are matched up with a service user
on the basis of age, interest and geographical location. Service users
will have the opportunity to increase social skills, independence and
confidence. The Social Buddies Programme directly meets the
prioritised demand for flexible day service supports. The programme
establishes supports outside of normal service hours in order to allow
service users to participate in evening and weekend activities, which
is necessary to providing support for a full life.
PURPOSE OF THE POST:
The Social Buddies Programme Coordinator will facilitate, oversee and
support the implementation of the Social Buddies Volunteer programme
in Disability day services within Community Healthcare Organisation 1.
